Welcome to “Sword Life” a blog that I’m hoping will be a place you can find interesting stories, pictures and videos that will provide you with insights into the great sport of fencing. As many of you know, I will be competing this summer in the Beijing Olympics in men’s saber and so over the next few months I want to share with you our team’s experiences as we prepare and compete in the Olympics. Providing you with a unique insight into things that are happening with us and the sport is my goal as well as to maybe get some people currently outside of the sport to realize what a great thing it is to fence!
Please let me know what types of things you would find interesting and I’ll try my best to accomodate. I already know that I plan on interviewing some of the top athletes to ask them about their experiences as well as sharing with you my personal experiences as I continue to grow and learn in the sport.
As an athlete for one of the small sports in the Olympics, I know its our responsibility to promote the sport and be an ambassador for all the great things that are happening. I long to see the day when fencing will have a regular place on television, have a million members competing and many more people who know the sport and athletes. Here is my first foray towards those goals!
