Another Month Passes: USA Fencing Olympians Still Without Stipends…

Last month, I wrote about how USOC money alloted for the USA Olympic and National Team Members had still yet to be delivered because the paperwork had not yet been completed by the USFA. (We were told contracts would be delivered on Friday several times…didn’t happen)

It really pains me to write this (Really) and I hate writing emails and posts about money and  lack of support.  I’d much rather be focused on training and other things, but it’s just so frustrating.

I’m not blaming anyone this month. (Not sure what I’ll do next month)  I’ve decided to take the blame myself and take full responsibility for the fact that this paperwork has not been completed for the last 3+ months.   

It at least helps me feel better to know that at least someone can be held accountable and is willing to step up and say, “I’m responsible”.  That’s what leaders do…

So I want to say, “I’m responsible” and apologize to Mariel Zagunis, Jason Rogers, James Williams, Ben Igoe, Dagmara Wozniak, Seth Kelsey and everyone else involved. 

You guys were amazing at the Olympics (I’m truly in awe) and I know that many of you have bills to pay and were depending on this money and there is truly no excuse for the length of this process.   I know you made plans based on it and again, I’m sorry and will do a better job.  

You should have your contracts by next Friday…
