Fencing is a Sexy (And helpful) Sport Part III: Aids Prevention Ad "No action without Protection"

This image above was used by the Swiss Federal office of Public Health in a campaign called Love Life Stop Aids foundation in 2006 to help promote aids prevention.   It featured two naked fencers with the mantra, “No action without protection.”

It’s always interesting to see how our sports imagery is used in so many diverse ways!  (This is definitely a new one!)

I do really love that fencing is being used to support a great cause!

The “Love Life Stop AIDS” campaign is part of the national AIDS prevention strategy established by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health in conjunction with the Swiss Aids Association and other regional offices. The campaign consists of three major objectives: to increase people’s awareness of the risk of HIV transmission, to regulate and prevent both unsafe and unhealthy sexual behaviors, and to promote the wide use of protection when engaging in sexual activity. The “Love Life Stop AIDS” campaign embraces its simple logo and two rule recommendation: 1. No intercourse without a condom and 2. Semen or blood – never in the mouth.

The 2006 campaign (pictured) entitled “No action without protection,” sought to raise public awareness of the need for self-protection in sexual activity the same as in physical sports. The fencers are completely naked and completely without any form of protection; sexual activity poses a similar situation and threat to health because there is a high risk of infection when sexual behavior proceeds with lack of protection
