Crazy Euro Ads…(The Zurich Airport)
May 21, 2009
I know I’m back in Europe when the Advertisements get a little…crazy?
This ad for Italian Espresso “The Italian Expresso Experience” features a nearly naked women on all fours wearing only a fur covering, holding an expresso while two babies look up at her…(oh, don’t forget the ruins behind her also)
Any guesses on what this ad is trying to say???
This is the Capitoline Wolf with the two twins Romus and Remulus, the two founders of the City of Rome in front of the Colosseum.
But i’m not knowing what the ad is trying two say.
Ahhh, here is where the dorky student part of me shines through. This advert tells the story of Rome! The legend is 2 twin brothers( Romulus and Remus, the sons of Mars) that were sentenced to death but instead hidden in the woods, and were raised by a mother wolf (that would be the hot chick decked out in fur on all fours!)
The brothers decided to build a city (Rome) but could decided who would rule it. So after fighting with each other, Romulus killed Remus!
This is like the butchered version of the legend, but its Lavazzos way of saying it is as italian as R and R!!!
Have a safe trip back to the USA!
Spirou beat me to it. Its trying to say that that esspreso can sustain and build a nation…
I just googled around in the afternoon about Lavazza and their ads, cause i really like that ad. This is what i found:
“Lavazza are continuing to make their annual calendars, with fashion as the main theme. This year, the chosen topic is the cult of Italian stereotypes.”

They called the calendat “Italianity”. Its a great idea.
