Teach For America Connecticut Goes Olympic!

June 30, 2009

Last week, I was invited by my friend Edna Novak, the executive director of Teach For America Connecticut, to speak to their incoming corps at their induction!

With my friend Jeff Imrich,we drove from NYC to Connecticut to talk to the 100 or so new corps members and future teachers/difference makers!

I had a great time and since I spent so much of my working career at Teach For America (7+ years!) it was fun to reconnect especially with the newest recruits.   They’re off to NYC themselves this weekend to begin their journey at Institute…

GOOD LUCK CONNECTICUT CORPS!!!!!!!!!

Pan American Championships in 3 days!

June 30, 2009

Morehouse Art Edit 9894

Final couple days of practice and then we’re off to San Salvador, El Salvador for the very important Pan American Championships.

The competition is both individual and team between all the national teams of countries in North, South and Central America and counts a lot for world ranking.  We’ll be competing against countries such as Canada, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela to name a few.

For the USA men’s saber team, Ben Igoe, James Williams, Jason Rogers and myself will be competing.

The US Nationals are happening the same weekend so we’re all sad that we’ll be missing that competition!
