Jason Rogers captures Gold as US Men’s Saber Sweeps Medals at Pan Ams

Jason Rogers led the way for USA Men’s Saber on day 1 of the Pan American Championships in El Salvador as he captured the Gold Medal.

It was a very strong day for the team as James Williamsfinished 2nd and Tim Morehouse finished 3rd.  Ben Igoe finished 5th.  Canadian Philip Beaudry also finished 3rd.

Jason Rogers defeated Ben Igoe 15-13 in the top-8, Tim Morehouse 15-11 in the top-4 and then defeated James Williams 15-14 in the Gold medal match coming back from a 6-13 deficit.

Ed Korfantycoached the team and did a great job while Yury Gelman is still unable to travel due to health issues.

We compete again on July 6th in the team event.  Women’s Foil and Men’s Epee fence tomorrow.  Will write more later!
