Tiger Woods Makes a Real Apology. “I ask you to find room in your heart to one day believe in me again.”

February 20, 2010

Tiger Woods

Given the recent half-hearted apologies from professional athletes about  their steroid use, gambling, guns they’ve had in the locker room etc.  it was nice to see an athlete take full-responsibility for their actions.

For that, I think Tiger Woods deserves credit for owning up to this situation.   He also seemed very genuine in his statements.

Quotes from Tiger that stuck out at me from his press conference:

“My apology will not come from words, but from my actions.”

“This is all my fault.”

“I don’t get to play by different rules”

“I brought this shame on myself.”

“My failures have made me look at myself in a way I’ve never wanted to before.”

“I’m the one who needs to change.”

“I ask you to find room in your heart to one day believe in me again.”

He also seemed really upset about the media’s following around of his wife and children, mentioned he might be back this year to golf, cited his Buddhist roots as a path to healing and specifically discussed trying to be a role model again.

I’m rooting for him to turn his life around.

Thoughts on Tiger now?

This is one of the most brilliant and hillarious blog posts I’ve ever read from Comedian Bridget McManus!  Wow. So good!

Check out all her selections: http://bit.ly/dnkDEF

Who is your favorite Olympian paired as a Harry Potter character?

My vote is for Yevgeny Plyushchenko as Lord Voldemort.

Haha. Too funny! Amazing stuff Bridget!
