May 9, 2009

This has been a hectic few days!! (Running on fumes right now!)

This morning I trekked to Brooklyn for a photo shoot for June/July Sports & Entertainment issue of NV magazine which will also feature NY Knicks guard and NBA slam-dunk-champion Nate Robinson and NY Jets player Kerry Rhodes.

Nate was super nice and as a Knicks fan it’s always awesome to meet your hometown favorites!  (Knicks in 2010!)

We did the shooting  (hopefully they turn out well!) in various outfits in various locations in an apartment.

Special thanks to Darryl Brown for setting up this opportunity for me and to the Tony andIrdis for taking great pictures and helping me as I fumbled my way through being a model!

German Olympic Fencer Peter Joppich in V Man Magazine Ad

May 7, 2009

bestpeterpic

German Olympic Foilist Peter Joppich (3rd from the rt) was in V Man magazine, a quarterly fashion magazine, along with other German Olympians in an ad for the Baumler brand.

Fencing seems to be everywhere…except on TV in the USA! (Quick quiz: Who owns the TV rights to fencing in the USA? There is an answer)

While Googling him for this article I discovered that Peter Joppichdefinitely has a lot of fans in the blog-o-sphere…(Probably the most I’ve seen for any fencer)

It probably has something to do with this picture below…

Fencing in Italian Elle Magazine!

May 5, 2009

This comes from reader Sharon!!! (Thank you Sharon!)

These pictures are kind of a combo ballet/fencing.

Do you think the ballet-bulge-look (see pic above on rt) would help fencing incrase its television ratings??? ;)

Craig H: you migth want to be the first to start selling the bulge stuffer if this catches on…(just a thought)

Knowing fencing prices, they would probably retail for $50+ dollars

Fencing in Fashion: Italian Vogue Features Fencing Streetwear

April 25, 2009

fencing-fashion-0011

Now you too can dress like a fencer…at work, school or play!

The fencing revolution continues with Italian Vogue’s unveiling of a fencing clothing line!!!!

italian-vogue-002

Let’s start wearing fencing clothes on the street!!! Who is with me???

The article utilizes athletes Fabrice Jeannet of France and Matteo Tagliariol of Italy and a model to contrast the real competitive outfits to the clothing line.

The 2-page spread reads: (something like this via Igoogle translator)
And the most noble of all sports as loyal and respectful of the opponent’s own…

The etymology of the word Italian fencing brings with it the meaning of discipline…

connected to the function of the sword as a means not born to hit, but to defend and to his nickname of weapon white

Alright people, I expect to see everyone wearing fencing outfits around town in the near future!
