Had the chance to check out the premiere of Paul Rudd and Steve Carell’s new comedy “Dinner For Schmucks“. As per most Paul Rudd movies, there is a fencer in it! (See “Role Models” and “I Love You Man”)
This was a great flick! Really funny. Worth checking out for sure!
Had the chance to chat with Paul a bit about the movie and fencing and while he has never “fenced” competitively he did do it as part of his acting training and he says he is a big fan of the sport!
GO FENCING! 
It’s confirmed!
After extensive research (i.e. google searching Rudd+fencing) I can confirm that Paul Rudd is indeed a fencer!
In an interview with with Rocco Passafuime on the website Cinema Source Rudd reveals:
“I actually fenced before this film,” Rudd reveals, “In fact, the guy who oversaw the fencing in this film was my fencing teacher twenty years ago. Whoa. So en garde that! That was one of my favorites, that locker room talk with fencing terminology.”
I wonder who this coach was?
Ok, on to the movie. Really funny. Two sabers up. (That’s equivalent to two thumbs) There are several fencing scenes and in both someone is slamming down their mask when they lose…
There are also two terms they use to describe fencing moves they’ve done and I have no idea what they mean! lol
I’ll have more to say about all these fencers coming out of the closet soon…but fencers are definitely out there and if you think you don’t know any fencers…you probably are wrong!

In the new Paul Rudd movie I Love You Man he apparently is a member of a fencing club.
I’m bracing myself…(I’m also going to see it tomorrow!)
After Van Wilder 2 I’m still traumatized when they try to show fencing ”realistically”. (If you know what the Rath Bone is then you feel my pain!)
Still, Paul Rudd’s last movie Role Models also sort-of had sword fighting since the kid he was mentoring was involved in one of those real life wizards and knights fantasy battle things. (not sure of the name)
Does Paul Rudd have a fascination with fencing or just coincidence???
