U.S. Olympic Committee Announces 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Heading to Vancouver for 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Team USA features 216 athletes with 87 returning Olympians

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) today announced its team members for competition at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada. Team USA consists of 216 athletes, including 123 men and 93 women.

Highlighting the list are three Olympians heading to their fifth Winter Games. Luge athlete Mark Grimmette (Muskegon, Mich.) and Nordic combined skier Todd Lodwick (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) have been named to five consecutive U.S. Olympic Teams (1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010). Casey Puckett (Aspen, Colo.) competed in four straight Winter Games as an alpine skier (1992, 1994, 1998, 2002). He retired from the U.S. Alpine Ski Team in 2002 before returning to the slopes to try out ski cross, which makes its Olympic debut in Vancouver. Grimmette, Lodwick and Puckett join former bobsledder and current men’s bobsled head coach Brian Shimer as the only five-time U.S. Olympians to compete in a Winter Games in history.

“America’s finest athletes are ready to captivate our country once again in anticipation of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver,” said USOC Chief Executive Officer Scott Blackmun. “The 216 athletes we have officially entered into competition will provide inspiration for Americans young and old, and our athletes will do so with the pride and honor that is inherent in representing the United States of America.”

Bode Miller, Grand Slam Tennis Player, Gossip Girl Heartthrob Sebastian Stan and Fencing Silver Medalist Tim Morehouse Face Off in the Hublot “Tennis Fusion” Celebrity Challenge

December 7, 2009

Is the tennis racquet mightier than the sword?

Tomorrow we will find out as I’m squaring off in a celebrity tennis match to support Bode Miller’s Turtle Ridge Foundation which will be donating $10,000 dollars to Harlem Youth Tennis.

Apparently, Bode Miller would have been a professional tennis player if he wasn’t a skier and this explains why an Alpine skier is doing a tennis clinic.  Also, would be hard to demonstrate Alpine Skiing at an event in NYC!

Justin Gimelstob, the tennis champion and Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan round out the doubles players.  Not sure who I’ll be playing with, but it should be interesting.  Its been awhile since I picked up a racquet!

It’s for a good cause and hopefully the children attending won’t laugh at my skills! -Tim

Press Release:
The Hublot “Tennis Fusion” Celebrity Challenge will feature Bode Miller, Sebastian Stan, Justin Gimelstob and Tim Morehouse in a doubles tennis match. The players will gather to support Bode’s relationship with the Harlem Youth Tennis and Educational Program. Following the Celebrity Challenge, Bode will lead a basic tennis clinic with kids from the program.

Bode Miller and his family started The Turtle Ridge Foundation in 2005. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting health, diversity, and sustainable living through sports. In February 2009 Bode joined forces with Hublot to collaborate on design and development of the new Hublot Bode Bang Limited Edition watch. A portion of sales from the watch will go to the Turtle Ridge Foundation. At the Hublot “Tennis Fusion” Celebrity Challenge, Hublot and The Turtle Ridge Foundation will donate 10,000 to Harlem Youth Tennis and Education Program.

Olympic Torch Lit for Vancouver! 109 Days Until Winter Games!

October 25, 2009

The Olympic torch is once again lit, starting as it always does in Athens, and is now making its way around the world!

Only 109 days until winter games opening ceremonies! (I can’t believe another Olympics is almost here!)

In NYC, on November 4th will be a massive celebration for 100 days until Vancouver! The US Olympic Committee has planned things with winter athletes flying into town to begin a big promotion push!

On a very exciting note, I will be blogging from ALL OF THE EVENTS!  Stay tuned here for more information, but I’m going to be helping promote the winter games across my hometown…

Should be fun and exciting to meet the winter athletes on their Olympic Journeys!
