Zorro of the Upper West Side: A Profile of NYC Fencer Nicole Ross!

Swordfighting isn’t a sport that’s generally associated with the Upper West Side, at least not since the gritty days of West Side Story. But one Upper West Sider has shown quite a knack for it, so much so that she could be representing the United States in fencing at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Fencing at Grand Central Station in 2004

This is the only picture I could find of this online…small example of what we can do with fencing! This was a great finals for the world cup in 2004.  It was SOLD OUT and people were clamoring outside to get in.

Heading to Carnegie Hall, then to Lincoln Center and finally Hammerstein Ballroom to take a tour and talk logistics for a similar (BIGGER) fencing stage in November!
