Matawan grad eyes 2012 Olympics

It’s not easy trying to catch up with Monica Aksamit.
That’s because the 19-year-old fencer from Matawan is traveling the world in hopes of competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Aksamit specializes in the saber, competing internationally at both the senior and junior levels. This year, Aksamit has focused primarily on working her way up the senior women’s saber rankings. After competing in her final World Cup tournament of the season last month in Dallas, Aksamit was ranked 37th in the world. (READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE)
